Senior Primary Highlights

Mother’s Day Celebration

On the 12th of May, the Senior Primary Department hosted its first “Tribute to Mothers”. It was a wonderful event, displaying the various talents of our learners. The moms were entertained by a variety of performances, ranging from singing to dance. It was a successful event that took weeks of preparation and hard work from our learners. We are very proud of the learners who eagerly volunteered to perform.  A huge thank you to the moms who spent the morning with us.

Grade 6 excursion

The Grade 6 learners were away on excursion from 17 May to 19 May. They were given opportunities to develop leadership skills. Our learners thoroughly enjoyed themselves at Spirit of Adventure and were sad to leave.

Father’s Day Celebration

On the 15th of June, the Senior Primary enjoyed hosting their first Father’s Day function – a Carnival! It was all fun and games on the field as learners and dads enjoyed various carnival stalls.

Great fun was had by all who tried to score a hole-in-one, pop a few balloons and were splashed in the sponge toss. Thank you to the fathers who took some time out of their busy schedules to spend the morning with their children. Also, a big thank you to our sponsors for their most generous donations.

Sport Report Term 2 – 2017

We have had a very enjoyable and busy Term 2 on the sports field.  Our senior rugby boys attended the Glenwood Rugby Festival at the end of the first term.  They did extremely well against some very tough opposition.  All our rugby teams had a very good season this year. Our U9 team went unbeaten in their seven matches and both our U11 and U13 teams remaining unbeaten on our home field and against our local opposition.  Our U7 and U8 teams won both their matches against Amanzimtoti Primary.  It was great to see such enthusiasm and passion from our future rugby stars.

Congratulations to the following boys who were chosen to represent the Southern KZN Rugby Teams at the KZN rugby trials, Sambulo Sithole, Joshua Simpkins, Simphiwe Shozi, William Van Vuuren and Sfundo Zama.

Our netball girls did us very proud this term.  A highlight was the number of girls taking part in netball this term.  We were able to field A and B teams in most age groups.  Our U9 girls played in their first netball games and it was great to see the improvement throughout the season.  Our first team had an extremely good season on the netball court.  They only lost one game the entire season.  They will play in the John Dory’s festival finals in August. Good luck girls.

Congratulations to the following girls who were selected for the UGU Netball Team that took place in the KZN trials, Christina Stanton, Robyne Hanna, Amber Edwards, Morgan Johns, Lara Harvey and Yonela Ndlela.
