DIWALI – Monday 31st October
The Department of Education has recognised Monday, 31 October 2016 as part of the Annual Diwali Celebrations. Staff and Learners, who celebrate Diwali, will be given the opportunity to take the day off. Learners will not be marked absent and there are no formal assessments planned on this day. Learners celebrating Diwali are allowed to dress up in their traditional attire, either on Friday or Monday. On behalf of the Scottburgh Primary Family, we would like to wish all our Hindu families a Happy Diwali.
SUPER FUN DAY – Friday 18 November
As part of our endeavor to make learning as fun as possible, we have introduced a “Super Fun Day”, where learners will be treated to a wide variety of inflatable water slides and other inflatable fun equipment. Parents are most welcome to join us on the day. Further information will follow closer to the date. The cost per learner is R70.00 and must be paid in by 7 November as prior booking needs to be made.
MATHLETICS / READING EGGS ONLINE PROGRAMME
A big thank you to all the parents who have already paid their R267. A reminder that this amount has to be paid by 31 December, 2016. We have negotiated with the service provider and they have very kindly given us access to the programmes from now. The service provider also volunteered to do a training session for our parents on Tuesday, 01 November at 17:30. We are hoping to see many parents attend this training. In order to gauge the feasibility of the service provider coming all this way for the training, kindly complete the attached feedback form and return it to school by Friday 28, October 2016.
LANGUAGE POLICY SURVEY – CURRENT GRADE 6 LEARNERS
Kindly find attached, a survey form that must be completed and returned to school by Monday, 31 October.
TABLET INITIATIVE SURVEY – New Grade 1 and current Grade 3 learners only
As part of our vision to equip our learners with the vital skills needed in our technologically advanced society, SPS would like to introduce the use of tablets as a tool to achieve this goal. We would like to pilot this project for our 2017 Grade 1 and Grade 4 learners as these grades form the base for each phase. Kindly fill in the attached tablet survey form, so that we could look at the viability of introducing such an amazing initiative. We hope to get the necessary support from our parents.
FINAL EXAMS – Grades 4 – 7
I would like to wish our learners well for their exams. They must focus on preparing themselves for their respective papers and work to the best of their ability.
