Please take note of the following:
Learner absence / leave taking: The CAPS Curriculum is structured in a way that demands maximum time and as a school, we aim to adhere to the time frames set out by the Department of Education, whilst maintaining a balance between Academic, Sport and Culture. I do really appreciate the efforts made by most of our parents to have kept their appointments with Doctors/Specialists outside of normal school time as well as planning of holidays during the school breaks only. If it is unavoidable that you take time away during the school term, please ensure that you notify the Principal, and that all work missed, is caught up.
Change of policy with regards to Outdoor Extra Murals on rainy days: After taking into consideration the suggestions from parents and having had discussions with staff, we have decided that, on rainy days/inclement weather, all Outdoor Extra Murals (Grades 1 to 7), will take place indoors as a form of a theory lesson. The various coaches will take responsibility for these lessons. Attendance is COMPULSORY as our children will most definitely benefit from the knowledge gained at these lessons.
Please be informed that the school will no longer send out a message with regards to cancellation of Extra Murals due to rain. We trust that the efforts made by the school, to further extend our children, is supported and appreciated by our parents.
Amendments to the Term Calendar: Please take note of the following changes:
- Hockey match at Warner Beach Prep (U11 & U13 girls) – 24 April.
- Inter-House Spelling Bee Finals- moved from 19 April to 19 June.
- Rugby/Netball vs UPS- moved from 09 May to 28 May.
- Senior Primary Exams- will now end on 08 June.
Physical Education Lessons: PE forms an integral part of the curriculum and is a compulsory subject as per Departmental Policy. It is therefore vital that your child participates in these lessons which includes wearing the correct official school PE kit.
Extra Mural Programme: Your child is encouraged to participate in the various activities offered by the school. This participation comes with the responsibility of wearing the correct official PE kit for these activities.
SPS Movie Night: This exciting event will take place on Friday, 04 May 2018, scheduled for 6pm. For the benefit of our new parents, the school organises a professional company to set up a “BIG SCREEN” on our main field and our community gets an opportunity to watch a family movie, whilst enjoying some food and drinks. Tickets are available at the school at a cost of R40 (adult) and R30 (learners). Please purchase your tickets early to book your seat. More information about this event will be sent closer to the time.
