Parent / Teacher Meeting: Thursday – 28 September (14H30 – 18H30)
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, a new appointment system will be implemented this term. This will be five-minute appointments to speak to your child’s teacher and to collect his/her report.
A subsequent meeting can be arranged between yourself and the class teacher in the new term. Hopefully this system will give you an approximate guide as to the waiting time.
The process is as follows:
- Please indicate your preferred three, time slots.
- The class teacher will then either confirm one of these time slots, or write back to you with a suggested time.
- Please diarise your confirmed time and inform the school in advance, if you cannot make the meeting.
New School Uniform – Grade 1 (2018)
We are very happy to announce the introduction of our new school uniform to our new Grade 1 learners (2018). This will be a “phase-in” initiative starting in 2018. There was an overwhelming positive response from every new Grade 1 parent towards the new uniform. It was decided that the new school uniform should be opened to only the new Grade 1 (2018) for the following reasons:
- Financial implication it would have on our existing parents.
- Consistency with our learner uniforms with the remainder of the Grades.
- Managing the new uniforms at the retail store is easier, as it targets a specific age group.
We have secured branded and durable school bags, caps/hats and anoraks. The caps/hats will be a compulsory item in 2018, due to health and safety precautions, while the bags and anoraks will be an optional item for all Grade 2 to 7 learners in 2018. Prices for these items will be forwarded shortly.
Samples of the above-mentioned items can be viewed at school. We will also attempt to post pictures of the items on our D6 and website.
It has taken over a year to source out and finalise these items and I would like to thank my parents, staff, learners and SGB for their contributions and support.
Athletics Day – Friday 08 September 9am
All learners must come to school in their PE kit. Athletics will finish at approximately 1pm on Friday.
There will be a compulsory house relay practice on Thursday 07 September, from 14:15 to 15:15 for selected learners only.
Heritage/Cultural Day – Dress up
Learners will be allowed to come to school on Friday 22 September dressed in their cultural attire.
This is a special paid Mufti, where all the proceeds are donated to the SPCA and Four Paws. It is for this reason that parents may volunteer to pay more than R5 on the day.
